Chris is a proud U.S. Army and Washington National Guard veteran with a strong foundation in leadership and management. Recognizing a critical gap in pediatric healthcare fundraising within the community, he chose to revive a project first launched in 2016. From this vision, Vets for Kids was created—an organization built on the values of service, commitment, and the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to grow, thrive, and live a healthy, vibrant life. Chris brings a wealth of experience from his work with two nonprofit organizations, several Fortune 500 companies, and years of dedicated community service.

David Baker
Director
david.baker@vetsforkids.org
David brings a lifetime of dedication to community service, philanthropy, and the Pacific Northwest to his role as Director for Vets for Kids. A longtime Washington resident, David’s family history in the region dates back to 1890, when they first homesteaded along the Hood Canal—instilling in him a deep-rooted connection to the community he continues to serve today. David’s professional journey began in 1969 with the Seattle Pilots Major League Baseball team. He went on to build a successful 28-year career with Wonder Bread before transitioning in 2004 to Children’s Orthopedic Hospital, now known as Seattle Children’s Hospital. During his 20-year tenure, David played a vital role in the organization’s retail fundraising efforts until his retirement in 2024, when the program concluded. Beyond his professional contributions, David has been an extraordinary advocate for pediatric healthcare. As an active member of the Big Wheels Guild, he participated in more than 20 Seattle to Portland bicycle rides, helping raise hundreds of thousands of dollars to support uncompensated care for children in need. David’s passion for cycling, community service, and pediatric healthcare naturally led him to Vets for Kids. He was instrumental helping fund the launch of the Care for a Cure Boutique, where he continues to volunteer his time and energy. As a member of the Board of Directors, David brings renewed passion, purpose, and commitment to advancing the organization’s mission.
